Yes. The Australian Classification Board classified the original version of Halloween: The Game as RC (Refused Classification) on July 22, 2026. The Board says the reason was illicit drug use linked to an incentive or reward because it gives the player a gameplay advantage. It was not refused because of Michael Myers or graphic violence.
RC material cannot be sold, hired, advertised, or legally imported in Australia. “Refused classification” is more precise than saying the game is universally illegal to possess, because possession rules can differ between states and territories.

The current official entry lists classification number CLAS-1387789, category “Level 2 Gameplay,” version “ORIGINAL,” and media type Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The record still displayed RC during the September 9 check. IllFonic separately said it could not sell the physical or digital game in Australia and New Zealand.
A separate Halloween - Digital Deluxe Edition record had appeared with an R18+ IARC rating. It does not state that it replaces the original RC decision. Its page could not be fetched during the latest check, while the original RC record and Board statement remained available. Do not describe the game as reclassified or unbanned without a replacement decision and restored Australian sales.
