Direct answer

Halloween: The Game has three challenge families: automatically tracked Passive Challenges, sequential Progressive Challenges tied to Civilians, Michael skins, or weapons, and six optional challenges in each Story Mode stage. The story campaign is a Prologue plus Chapters 1–5. Current release-build guides report six objectives per stage, for 36 story challenges in total.

Story challenge structure

StageMain challenge themes
PrologueOrderlies, power, escape, detection conditions
Chapter 1Rabbit in Red, Bikers, improvised weapons, resident kills
Chapter 2Tanya, Rachel, Slab, Eric, Rachel's friends, no-alert clear
Chapter 3Jennifer, Thomas, Marcus, Gloria/Keith, wood axe, all residents
Chapter 4Annie, Bob, Lynda, Bloodthirsty execution, paired stalking, film sequence
Chapter 5Police, abilities, pitchfork execution, end-stage conditions

Story challenges reward replay. Official material says they unlock alternate outfits and unique cosmetics, including a legendary reward for completing all singleplayer challenges. Some objectives conflict with one another or depend on long scripted scenes, so players should use chapter replay rather than force every objective into a first clear.

General completion method

  1. Read all six objectives before starting the stage.
  2. Separate mutually exclusive or detection-sensitive goals into different runs.
  3. Fully stalk a named target when a contextual execution prompt does not appear; several release guides require Tier/Level 3 Stalk.
  4. Pick up required weapons early and preserve scripted targets until their event window.
  5. Finish the chapter after meeting the condition; some challenges appear to validate only at the end.
  6. If the tracker fails, restart the chapter or game and retry after checking the current patch notes.

Known release-week risk

Community reports after launch describe inconsistent tracking for no-alert goals and Chapter 4's film-plot recreation. These reports do not prove that every platform or save is affected, but they are strong enough to warn readers. Do not tell a player that a failed unlock necessarily means their route was wrong.
